KC3LVG Fixed Coil Generator

Enter the target inductance in µH. The generator estimates turns, builds the same parametric coil former, and renders a printable STL with OpenSCAD.

Bench calibration

The default estimator now uses both measured 45 mm OD / 3 mm pitch coil pairs. Between 18 and 23 turns it interpolates the correction factor. Outside that range it clamps to the nearest measured factor. If you change diameter or pitch, Wheeler's formula provides the geometry scaling.

Leave the override blank for the measured two-point model. Use an override only when you deliberately want one fixed multiplier for every turn count.

How the generator works

  1. You enter the target inductance, former diameter and turn pitch.
  2. The server tries each whole turn count and calculates a Wheeler single-layer estimate.
  3. It applies the bench correction derived from the measured 18-turn and 23-turn coils.
  4. It selects the whole turn count whose corrected estimate is closest to your target µH.
  5. The selected turns, diameter, pitch and hardware choices are written into the parametric OpenSCAD master.
  6. OpenSCAD renders the actual coil former and the server returns the STL.

The calibration improves the turn-count estimate, but it does not replace measuring the finished wound coil. Different wire, diameter, pitch and hardware can still shift inductance.

Ready.

Accuracy note

The target µH calculation is an estimate. The default model combines Wheeler's single-layer air-core formula with your measured 18-turn and 23-turn correction factors. Different diameters, wire, spacing, hardware and winding technique can shift the result. Measure each finished coil and add new measurements to future calibration updates.
